Contact NowThe classifier wheel, also known as an air classifier or centrifugal classifier, is a critical component in many industrial processes, particularly in the fields of mining, minerals processing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, and advanced materials manufacturing. Its primary function is to separate particles of different sizes, densities, or shapes based on their aerodynamic properties within a gas-solid flow system.
Working Principle:
The classifier wheel operates by exploiting the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the wheel itself. As a mixture of particles and gas (air or other gases) enters the classifier, the particles are accelerated by the rotating wheel. Lighter or finer particles, due to their lower inertia, tend to follow the gas flow more closely and are carried away through the center or periphery of the classifier, depending on the design. Heavier or coarser particles, on the other hand, are subjected to greater centrifugal force and are thrown outward against the force of the gas flow, ultimately being discharged from the classifier at a different outlet.
