ECTFE plates/rods are a 1:1 alternating copolymer of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene with a melting point of 464F and a density of 1.68g/cc (g/cc). The material has good performance from low temperature to 330T, and its strength, wear resistance and creep resistance are much higher than PTEE, FEP and PFA.
   

 It is resistant to most corrosive chemicals and organic solvents at room and high temperatures. It has a low dielectric constant (2.6) and stable performance over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. ECTFE does not ignite and prevents the flame from spreading and will break down into hard carbon when exposed to flame.

   ECTFE can be made into granular materials for molding and extrusion and powder products for rotary molding, fluidized bed finishing and electrostatic finishing. It can be processed into foam-like products by chemical foaming method in traditional extrusion equipment, and it is not suitable for computer wire. Semi-finished products are membrane, plate, tube and single fiber. ECTFE is sold by Ausimont USA under the brand name Halar. In the field of wire and cable, the most important application is used for pressurization cable, public transportation vehicle cable. Fire alarm cable, anode protection cable. Injection molding products are tower packing, pump parts, connectors, wire terminals, filter casing. ECTFE pipe applications include optical fiber tubing, unsupported tubing, steel pipe and reinforced plastic pipe lining.

ECTFE features the following:  

1. Excellent chemical resistance: almost all chemical reagents commonly used in industry can not have any effect on ECTFE.  Chemicals that ECTFE can resist include: strong inorganic acids, strong bases, metallic etchants, liquid oxygen, and all organic solvents except thermal amines such as aniline and dimethylamine.  

2. Higher hardness: Higher surface hardness provides better wear resistance (e.g. constant deposition and friction from solid particles or salts during use), and better scratch resistance (e.g. avoidance of damage during installation), which makes ECTFE even safer.  Reduces the possibility of accidental damage and maintenance costs during installation and transportation.  

3. Smoothness: Whether powder sprayed, extruded or molded, Halar ECTFE surfaces are exceptionally smooth, as demonstrated by scanning electron microscopy or atomic force microscopy.  Advantages of a smoother surface: Less possibility of pinholes in layers;  Inhibit the accumulation of solid particles and metal salts and prevent clogging, much better than PP, PVC or FRP pipelines;  Reduced biofilm and bacterial formation was also demonstrated by comparing the results of biofilm experiments with electropolished stainless steel and other fluorinated compounds.  

4, high and low temperature resistance: can be used between -50℃ and 150℃, short time 170℃ to 180℃ can also be used. 

5. viscosity resistance: almost all substances can not be bonded with ECTFE coating, has such a stable performance, all are useful in many aspects of it, such as: industrial molds, printing and dyeing machinery and other anti-stick, easy to release, easy to clean performance.  

 6, wear resistance: with low friction coefficient and good self-lubrication, suitable for automotive industry parts, oil drilling industry, and industrial industries of self-lubrication workpiece.  Can save energy consumption, reduce noise, improve efficiency.  

 7, electrical insulation: excellent insulation resistance, used in packaging machinery, textile industry, etc.  

 8. Excellent permeability: ectfe's success is also attributed to its excellent permeability resistance (such as water vapor, oxygen, acid, chlorine, etc.), which makes it an anticorrosive material used in medical devices, chemical industry and semiconductor industry.
